A total of 3,000 families affected by the recent flooding in Calasiao and Dagupan City received much-needed assistance through Project Damayan, a relief initiative made possible through the efforts of BDO Foundation in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Central Pangasinan, Inc. (RCCP), with the special participation of the Inner Wheel Club of Central Pangasinan (IWCCP) and Ednas School Dagupan Batch ’93 Alumni Association, Inc. (ESDB93AAI).

The initiative was made possible through BDO Foundation, led by Area Head Ms. Liat Katubig and Ms. Glenda Viado, whose participation also carried a special connection to the project as she is a member of the Inner Wheel Club of Central Pangasinan.

The relief operation began in Calasiao, where 1,500 families received relief goods at the Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Church.

The group then proceeded to Dagupan City, where the remaining relief goods were distributed to families in Barangay Salisay.

The first distribution point in Dagupan was held at the Salisay Barangay Hall, where 1,000 families received assistance.

Dagupan City Mayor Belen T. Fernandez led the distribution together with Vice Mayor BK Kua and Punong Barangay Ferdinand Bangsal of Barangay Salisay.

Several members of the Dagupan City Council were also present, along with personnel from the Dagupan City Police Office (DCPO), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and members of the Salisay Barangay Council, who helped support and facilitate the relief operation.

The final distribution was held at Salisay Elementary School, where another 500 flood-affected families received relief goods.

The Dagupan City Water District also extended valuable assistance to the operation by lending its dump truck to transport the relief goods from the Dagupan City Plaza to Barangay Salisay.

Leading the Rotary Club of Central Pangasinan was President Jason Estrada, together with President-elect Jun Viado, Past Presidents Mike Villamor and Mer Concepcion, Directors Merissa Villamor and Ricky Parayno, Treasurer Mikey Fabe, and Rotarians Ronnie Mauricio, Lady Macaranas, Mauee Lapeña, Rizza Paramio, and Rose Cabatbat.

The Inner Wheel Club of Central Pangasinan was represented by Past Presidents Nila Torres, Chit Concepcion, and Shay Torres, together with Marlene Tandoc and Ms. Glenda Viado, who also represented BDO Foundation during the relief operation.

The Ednas School Dagupan Batch ’93 Alumni Association, Inc. was likewise represented by Association President and Rotarian Ronnie Mauricio, Director Mark Lapeña, Alumni Charter President Mauee Lapeña, Lady Ritualo, and Jason Estrada.

Through the collective efforts of BDO Foundation, RCCP, IWCCP, ESDB93AAI, the Dagupan City Water District, local government officials, law enforcement and fire personnel, barangay officials, and volunteers, Project Damayan was able to reach 3,000 families and provide timely assistance to communities recovering from the effects of the floods.
