RCCP SUPPORTS CERVICAL CANCER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN PROMOTING WOMEN’S HEALTH

The Rotary Club of Central Pangasinan (RCCP) joined the Cervical Cancer Awareness Project, reaffirming its commitment to promoting preventive healthcare and empowering women through education and early intervention.

The initiative was spearheaded by the Inner Wheel Clubs of the Philippines, Inc., District 379, in collaboration with the Dagupan City Water District (DCWD), Pangasinan Medical Society, Dagupan Doctors Villaflor Memorial Hospital, and the City Government of Dagupan.

Held on August 1, 2026 at the Pangasinan Medical Society Building in Dagupan City, the event gathered around 100 women from various barangays of Dagupan City for an informative lecture on cervical cancer prevention conducted by Dr. Ryan Joseph Lirazan, highlighting the importance of HPV vaccination and early screening.

Following the awareness session, 10 girls aged 9 to 14 received their second dose of the HPV vaccine, reinforcing the campaign’s goal of protecting young girls against cervical cancer.

The program opened with welcome remarks from Past District Chairperson Arlene Sanchez, while DCWD General Manager Gretchen Buena delivered a message of support emphasizing the importance of collaborative public health initiatives.

Leading the activity was District Chairperson Julie Lim of the Inner Wheel Clubs of the Philippines, District 379, together with the delegation from the Inner Wheel Club of San Fernando, La Union.

Also in attendance were members of the Inner Wheel Clubs of Dagupan, Dagupan East, and Downtown Dagupan from Cluster 2B, along with delegates from other Inner Wheel Clubs representing neighboring cities and municipalities, demonstrating the organization’s strong commitment to advancing women’s health across the region.

Representing the Rotary Club of Central Pangasinan were President Jason Estrada, President Nominee Joie Recel, Past President Kelen Rovillos, Public Image Director Claire Enrile, and Club Treasurer Mikey Fabe, who expressed the club’s unwavering support for initiatives that improve community health and well-being.

Notably, the Rotary Club of Central Pangasinan was the first Rotary club in Cluster 2B to admit women as Rotarians, a milestone achieved under the leadership of the late Past President George Estrada, whose legacy of inclusivity continues through his son, incumbent President Jason Estrada.

Through strong partnerships among civic organizations, healthcare institutions, and local government, the activity underscored the shared commitment to raising awareness, expanding access to preventive healthcare, and creating lasting impact in the lives of women and future generations.
