DAGUPAN CITY – The Rotary Club of Central Pangasinan (RCCP) and the Dagupan City Water District (DCWD), officially launched Project WASH FOR TOMORROW (Donation of Handwashing Facilities) on July 1, 2026, bringing improved handwashing facilities and hygiene education to two public elementary schools in Dagupan City.

The community service project was conducted immediately after the Joint Rotary Cluster Kickoff Activity, with the first turnover held at Bonuan Boquig Elementary School under the leadership of Agape M. Nabua, PhD., Principal IV, before proceeding to Malued Elementary School headed by Ma. Rita Teresa V. Riñoza, Principal IV.
Leading the Rotary delegation was RCCP president Jason G. Estrada, while the DCWD team was headed by general manager Gretchen G. Buena, underscoring the strong collaboration between the two organizations in advancing public health through sustainable community service.
Also joining the activity were RCCP PP Ray Siapno, PP Mel Baquiran, PP Nats Alipio, director Claire Enrile, and treasurer Mikey Fabe.

Each school received a handwashing facility designed to provide students with convenient access to proper hand hygiene, while supplies of liquid hand soap were also donated to encourage regular and effective handwashing throughout the school year.
Beyond the turnover of facilities, representatives from RCCP and DCWD conducted an engaging demonstration on the proper way of washing hands, emphasizing the importance of thorough hand hygiene as one of the simplest yet most effective ways to prevent the spread of infectious diseases among schoolchildren.
Educational tarpaulin posters illustrating the correct handwashing procedure were likewise installed beside the newly donated sinks to serve as daily visual reminders for pupils, teachers, parents, and visitors to practice proper sanitation.
The principals of both schools expressed their appreciation to RCCP and DCWD for selecting their institutions as beneficiaries, noting that the project will significantly enhance the schools’ efforts to promote cleanliness, wellness, and disease prevention among their learners.

President Estrada of RCCP said the initiative reflects Rotary’s commitment to creating healthier communities by investing in projects that produce meaningful and lasting benefits for children.
Meanwhile, GM Buena emphasized that access to clean and potable water must always be complemented by proper hygiene practices, adding that educating young learners today helps build healthier families and communities tomorrow.
Project WASH FOR TOMORROW symbolizes the strengthened partnership between the Rotary Club of Central Pangasinan and the Dagupan City Water District in championing public health, improving sanitation in schools, and ensuring that every child has access not only to clean water but also to the knowledge and facilities needed to practice proper hand hygiene.
Anchored on Rotary International’s 2026–2027 theme, “Create Lasting Impact,” the initiative demonstrates how collaborative service between civic organizations and public institutions can leave a lasting legacy by protecting the health of children and fostering a culture of cleanliness for generations to come.
